Mr Christopher Terence Hunt, of Canberra, has been
K appointed Deputy Commonwealth Ombudsman for a four-year
term. The office is a full-time statutory position, and
was previously occupied by Mr I. D. Emerton, whose term
expired on 2 April 1983.
Mr Hunt, 38, holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University
of Sydney. He has been a member of the Australian Public
Service since 1974, having held positions with the Public
Service Board and, most recently, as Senior Assistant

I shall not be making any recorrarenations to Her Majesty
The Queen for awards under the Imperial honours system.
Awards under the Australian system of honours the Order
of Australia will continue. Recommendations for these
awards are made by the Council of the Order of Australia

The Thirty-third Parliament will be opened by the Governor-
General's Deputy at 10.30 a. m. on Thursday 21 April 1983.
His Excellency the Governor-General will deliver the Opening
Speech at 2.40 p. m. on the same day.
The Proclamation fixing the time and date of the Opening has
been signed by the Governor-General and will be published in
the Commonwealth Gazette today.

Since the National Economic Summit was first proposed,
one of its central features has been its role as an
information-sharing occasion.
In line with my commitment to provide a range of information,
three documents with which the Government has been involved
in the preparation of have been sent to participants.
The three are:
S a Department of Finance report on the forward
estimates for the next three financial years;
S an Information Paper on the economy; and

JOINT STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER AND THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL
The Commonwealth Government issued a writ in the High Court
today seeking a permanent injunction against the Tasmanian
Government, the Hydro-Electric Commission and the Premier
of Tasmania restraining them from continuing the work
connected with the building of the Gordon-below-Franklin
dam. The basis of the Commonwealth's claim is that the State
