The Queen to Return to Australia
I am pleased that it will be possible for The Queen
to return to Australia and visit Adelaide, Perth and Darwin.
This had been her hope after fulfilling her constitutional
rluties in the United Eingdom.

PHOSPHATE FERTILIZERS BOUNTY
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, today announced that
the Government had decided that the Phosphate Fertilizers Bounty
should be allowed to expire at 31 December 1974. Mr Whitlam said
that the decision was being announced well before the ending of the
bounty to give primary producers and the fertilizer industry time
to make appropriate adjustments to their planning.

VISIT TO SOUTH-EAST ASIA 14 February 1974
" I have come to the end of a most important visit to
six nations of South-East Asia Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Burma,
Singapore and the Philippines. My visit served two basic purposes.
It enabled me to explain at first hand the aims and purposes of the
Australian Government's foreign policy and to hear the views of our
friends and neighbours on issues of common concern. It also enabled
me to set in train official negotiations on a wide range of practical
issues, especially in the area of trade.

RELEASE OF TARIFF BOARD REPORTS
The Acting Prime Minister, Mr Barnard, today
released three reports which the Government had received
from the Tariff Board in the latter half of 1973. The
reports are titled, Textile Bags; Film Processing
Industry, Advertising Film ( Value for Duty); and Paper
and Textile Bags.
Mr Barnard said that the Government's action,
which was taken after receiving the views of
Mr G. A. Rattigan, Chairman of the Industries

Thc Australian Government has agreed to a proposal
from the Queensland Government for the provision of loan
finance to business firms suffering physical loss as a direct
result of the recent floods.
2. This measure has been accepted as eligible under
the arrangement for reimbursement of State expenditure in
excess of $ 2 million annually.

The following is an amended text of an address given by the
Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, at a State dinner in his honour in
Kuala Lumpur on 29 January 1974. This text should replace that
issued in our news release number M/ 9 of 29 January 1974:
" It is -thoroughly appropriate that I should have begun my
visit to six countries in the South-East Asian region here, in
Malaysia. I am no stranger to your country.

Each time one comes to Singapore, one is reminded of its
economic progress and vitality.
I can think of few countries in which one of the major problems
of the developing world namely sustaining the momentum of economic
growth has been so firmly and successfully met.
