PRESS RELEASE
The Prime Minister today continued his campaigning
for State Labor Leader Perc Tucker.
In a crowded schedule, Mr Whitlam attended a Greek
Orthodox Church Service and addressed a gathering at the Greek
Community Centre in South Brisbane. He stressed the Australian
Government's concern at the Cyprus situation, and outlined the
financial and welfare assistance already given by his Government.
Advance Australia Fair signalled his arrival at a
crowded luncheon at the New Melbourne Hotel.

PERC TUCKER AND HIS COLLEAGUES I MADE IT CLEAR THAT I WOULD

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, THE HON. E. G. WHITLAM, M. P.
Australia has made a further contribution'of $ 50,000 to the
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for relief'of
distress in Cyprus.
This brings its total contribution to $ 100,000.
In addition Qantas is flying free of charge to Cyprus
of emergency relief supplies each week.
The extra $ 50,000 will be spent on canned meat.
More than. two thousand enquiries from the Cypriot community
in Australia have been passed on to the International Committee

MT. GRAVATT HOSPITAL
The Prime Minister today visited the site which the
Queensland Government has been holding for a hospital at
Mt. Gravatt. Mr Whitlam said that the sorry history of the proposal
for a major teaching hospital complex at Mt Gravatt was yet
another instance of how the Queensland Government's unwillingness
to co-operate'with the Australian Government stopped Queenslanders
from getting the benefits of essential services.

REFERENCE TO IAC ON ACETYL PRODUCTS
The Prime Minister announced today that he had
forwarded a reference to the Industries Assistance Commission
on acetaldehyde; acetic acid, acetic anhldride vinyl acetate
and moulding compounds of cellulose acetate.
Mr. Whitlam said the reference was complementary
to the reference already held by the Commission on cellulose
acetate flake and the Commission had been empowered to take
evidence on any raw material used in the production of
