I will be leaving tomorrow morning for
Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia on my first visit to these
countries as Prime Minister. The main purpose of the visit will be to
improve our relations with our three nearest South-East Asian
neighbours, whose friendshiP and co-operation we welcome.

Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. William McMahon,

The Prime Minister ( Mr McMahon) leaves Australia on
Monday 5 June by chartered Qantas 707 for a visit to Indonesia,
Singapore and Malaysia.
During his visit he will have discussions with President
Soeharto, Prime Minister Lee and Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak.
Mr McMahon will also have talks with other senior Government leaders
and officials. Arrangements are being made for the Prime Minister

My colleagues and I have learned-with a sense of deep sadness
of . the death of His Royal . Highness, the Duke of Windsor.
Many will recall thebrilliant success of his visit-to
Australia more than fifty years ago. le. captivated this country -withhis
youth and charm.

The Prime Minister announced in Canberra today that the
Government had approved the production of an initial batch of twenty
Project aircraft, at a cost of $ 13M, including the cost of
completing development work and establishing production.
In January 1970, the Government approved expenditure of
