ECONOMIC CONSULTATIONS
Statement by the Prime Minister

Invitations have been extended for the next annual series
of economi. c consultations between 7? inisters and the renresentatives
of national organisations to be held in Sydney from 31 M-ay to 2 June
inclusive. As agreed last year the consultations will extend over
three days so that more time will be available for discussion of
issues of particular concern.

CONFERENCE ON THE HUtAN ENVIRONMENT

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mcahon today announce that a highlevel
delegation from Australia would attend the first United
Nations Conference on the Human Environment, to be held at Stockholm,
Sweden from 5-16 June, 1972.

Palace today:-" The Princess Nargaret Countess of Snowdon and the
Earl of Snowdon have accepted with very much pleasure
invitations from the Australian Government and the
State Government of Western Australia to visit Western
Australia in October next.

DESIGN COMPETITION FOR HIGH COURT

On 4th Anril, I announced the siting of the Figh Court in
Canberra and indicated that a design competition would be conducted
for the building. Following thi3, the National Capital Development
Commission has proceeded with preliminary arrangements for the
conduct of the competition.
I am now pleased to announce that the following five people

Last week I spoke to you about our arbitration system.
Tonight i want to soeak, to you about a related problem.
We have now reached a crucial point in our campaign to
dampen down the inflationary pressures in the national economy. The
decisions of the Arbitration Commission in the National Wage Case
