PRIME MINISTER WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26 19 83
ADVANCE AUSTtRALTA BREAKFAST
I think this is a time when we all like to think about what
Australia means to us. It is a time we ought to think about
the problems, but also about the opportunities for 1983.
1 believe that we all understand that there are many
difficulties ahead of us, and share those with countries
right around the world, but at the same time, I believe in
Australia, above all other places, we are determined to
approach those difficulties together in a positive fashion

DEATH OF LADY CASEY
I was very sad to learn of the death of Lady Casey.
, Maie Casey was an extraordinarily versatile and talented
woman. As the wife of Lord Casey, whom she married in 1926,
she was of tremendous assistance during his distinguished
career. But in her own right she was a woman of great achievement.
She was an accomplished writer, an artist of note, a pilot
and patron of the Australian Women Pilots Association, and a
distinguished member of the Australian community. Her death,

Commonwealth Secretary-General, Mr Ramphal, and by
Commonwealth West Indian Governments and cricketing
authorities, who have made it clear that the individuals
on the. team will be debarred from representing their

VISIT TO SOUTH-WEST TASMANIA
At the suggestion and request of the Premier of Tasmania,
I will be visiting the South-West Tasmania Wilderness Area
tomorrow. The senior Tasmanian Federal Minister, Kevin Newman, will
accompany me on the visit.
I have decided that I should take the opportunity while
I am in Tasmania to go out to the region and have a good
look at the Gordon and Franklin Rivers.
I want to see for myself the country about which I have
heard so much.
