Their Majesties King Hussein 1 and Queen** Alia of the Hashemite
Kingdom of Jordan paid a State Visit to Australia from
2 to 9 March 1976.
The visit, which served to reflect the deep warmth of
relations existing between the two countries, took place

At the invitation of the Government of Australia, the Prime
Minister of Papua New Guinea, the Honourable Michael T. Somare,
accompanied by Mrs Somare, is paying an official visit to
Canberra on 4 and 5 March 1976.
Mr Somare was received by His Excellency, the Governor-General,
Sir John Kerr and by the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable

Australian life can be realised.

I want to talk to you tonight about the mandate you have given
my Government.
I want to spell out our commitment to every Australian.
Our mandate is clear. We not only have to resolve the present
economic crisis but we have to use this nation's unrivalled
resources to rebuild a country which will be an example to other

THE IRAQI INVESTIGATION
As a result of inconsistencies in statements about the purpose
of the visit made by two I. raqis who came to Australia on 8
D'ecember and in view of the allegations that large sums of money
were brought into Australia, I announced in Parliament that
inquiries had beeni instituted.
These inquiries are being conducted by the Commonwealth Police.
No directions have been given to the police about the manner in

SUPPORT FOR WORLD HARVEST FOR HUMANITY
I want to place on record my wholehearted support for World
Harvest for Humanity Day to be observed in Australia this
gunday, February 29.
The day should serve as a reminder to all AustrF. lians that
460 million people-on this planet exist on, or close to,
starvation level. They live in constant fear of famine and
malnutrition. This special leap year the first of its ki1nd will help make
Australians more aware of the problems facing the ' have nots'.

THE REGENCY PARK CENTRE
I was very happy to be able to accept Dr Paterson's-invitation
to attend the opening ceremony of this multi-diagnostic treatment
and training centre.
Both Mrs Fraser and I are delighted to be here to share with the
members of the'. Crippled Children's association of South Australia
their pleasure and pride in their achievement. Because principally,
this centre has been built as the result of the efforts of the
As-sociation.

In -the last three years, a serious econoioic crisis has been
needlessly brought on Australia, an economic crisis which has
harmed all Australians and has harmed the weak and poor most
of all.
The crisis was principally caused by a failure on the part of
Goverrnent to plan and act responsibly by an unrealistic attitude
to what Government can effectively achieve.
To restore prosperity there must be a much more realistic
