JOINT STATIEMENT ON THE VISIT TO AUSTRALIA BY IllS EXCELLENCY
CIIOI KYU HAI, PRIME MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
Iis Excellency Choi. Kyu Hah, Prime ., Minister of the Iepublic
of Korcea, visited Australia from 29 April to 3 May 1979 at
the . invitation of the Austra[ ian Government. The Pr: i. mc Minister
was accompanied by lis Excellency Chang Yie Joon, Minister for
Energy and Rcsourccs, and a number of senior officials of
the Republic of Korea Government.

Mr. Speaker, I move tihat this House expresses its deep regret at the
death on 16 April, 1979, of tlhe lonourable Francis Eugene Stc. art,
a Memiber of this House for the Division of Lang from 1953
to 1977, and for the Di-ision of Grayndler since 1977 and
a Minister of the Crown from 1972 to 1975; and that this
House places on record its appreciation of his long and
meritorious public service and tenders its profound sympathy

Republic of Korea, and his delegation.
Over the last 30 years there have been many di fficul~ ties in
the Korean Peninsula and South East Asia. This has been

Visit by HRH The Princess Anne
Her Royal Highness, the Princess Anne, Mrs Mark Phillips
will visit Australia briefly in July.
Announcing the visit the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, said
-that the primary purpose of The Princess Anne's visit was
to undertake engagements associated with the Diamond Jubilee
of the Save -the Children Fund of which Her Royal Highness is
World President.
Her Royal Highness is expected to arrive in Sydney on
Thursday 19 July and to leave Australia from Perth on
Monday 23 July.

ELECTORATE TALK
It's easy enough for Canberra politicians to'make pronouncements
about great national and international issueS. It's easy
enough to make speeches about " confidence returning" and
" recovery proceeding". The myriad sets of official figures
and surveys provide a sound enough basis for: these statements.
But that's only part of the picture.
Surely, the only real measure of a nation's pulse is its people
what we are trying to achieve, what we feel and how we look

LAUNCHING OF ETHNIC TELEVISION
What you're seeing is the start of an experiment in Australian
television. An experiment that recognises that Australia is a
multicultural society.
Hundreds of thousands of migrants have enriched Australia both
culturally and materially. They have changed Australia for the
better to a society which has as its citizens people from all
over the world, representatives of many different cultures.
