Lindsay Thompson has given long and dedicated service to the
Liberal Party and to the people of Victoria. He firs t. entered
the Victorian Parliament in 1955 and represented the
Higinbotham Province and later the Monash Province in the
Legislative Council until 1970. He was the Leader of the
Government in the Legislative Assembly between 1962-70. He

RESIGNATION FROM4 PARLIAMHENT OF SIR PHILLIP LYNCH
I wish to express my personal regret at the circumstances.
which have led to the resignation of Sir Phillip Lynch
from the Parliament.
Sir Phillip had been chosen by the electors of Flinders as
their member on six occasions since his first election in
1966. During his record term of 16 years as Member for Flinders
Sir Phillip had made an exceptionally distinguished contribution

ELECTORATE TALK
The legislation for a National Crimes Commission which was
introduced into Parliament last week will establis-an
effective agency designed specifically to comrbat organised crime
and corruption in Australia. At the same time, the legislation
provides a basis for effective co-operation with the states,
and with police forces and other law enforcement agencies.
It has become clear in recent years that organised crime, and

STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER ON HIS VISIT TO
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
It has given me very great pleasure today to name the
new international terminal at Adelaide airport after Tom
Playford.
Tom Playford was not only a father figure to South
Australians, his name is almost synonymous with the
economic development of this State. During his years as
Premier he transformed South Australia from an
agricultural economy to one of Australia's major

PUBLIC SECTOR WAGES IN TIE CAIN BUDGET
I find it extraordinary that Mr Cain should expect praise for
the Victor-ian Government in relation to wage restraint. ( The
Herald, 26 October, 1982).
The Victorian Budget provides for an enormous 17.6% increase
in public sector wage and salary payments in 1932-83. ( See
Budget Document No. 5 page 73).
Even allowing for some carry-over fromrf 1982-82 settlements,
