NOTES FOR THE PRIME MINISTER
FOR THE OPENING OF EBER BUNKER'S HOUSE, COLLINGWOOD,
LIVERPOOL, 6 SEPTEMBER 1975
1. I IMAGINE IN MELBOURNE TODAY THERE WOULD BE
A MUCH BIGGER CROWD TO SEE COLLINGWOOD THAN
THERE IS HERE IN LIVERPOOL. IN MELBOURNE
THEY HAVE A MUCH GREATER SENSE OF HISTORY.
COLLINGWOOD FANS ARE NUMBERED IN THEIR
THOUSANDS-ESPECIALLY ON SATURDAY AFTERNOONS,
2. COLLINGWOOD WAS THE HOME OF CAPTAIN EBER BUNKER,
THE FOUNDER OF THE AUSTRALIAN WHALING INDUSTRY.
I HOPE NO ONE WILL CONFUSE EBER BUNKER

THE HON. E. G. WHITLAM, M. P.,
AT THE OPENING OF THE
WOMEN AND POLITICS CONFERENCE
CANBERRA, 31 AUGUST 1975
For most of this country's history women have
lived without visible political power; they have been excluded
from almost all levels of government in our society. The
momentous decisions of war and peace, of finance and technology,
as well as the everyday decisions which affect how all people live,
have been made by a minority of individuals who happen to be

INTERVIEW BETWEEN THE PRIME MINISTER AND RICHARD CARLETON
STATE OF THE NATION -28 AUGUST 1975
Q. Well, Mr Whitlam how's it affected your running of this
country having as you do the threat of an election hanging
over your head every day?
Prime Minister: I've got used to it. A year ago it would have been
very oppressive to me now we just go on regardless. And
you know we haven't been frozen in our tracks by this
constant threat, for instance, I think we are still a
very active, I think, creative Government... you know,

INTERVIEW BETWEEN THE PRIME MINISTER AND RICHARD CARLETON 31
" THIS DAY TONIGHT" 28 AUGUST, 1975
CARLETON: Good evening and welcome to This Day Tonight from Canberra.
If there was an election tomorrow then few would give Labor any
chance at all of being returned to power. But of course there's
not going to be an election tomorrow and if Mr Fraser is as good
as his word, there won't be an election at all this year, and
that's possibly just as well for the man who tomorrow celebrates
his 1,000th day as Prime Minister of Australia.
