The Prime Minister today announced the names of
new members orf the Australia Council and its constituent boards.

RESTORATION OF THE TASMAN BRIDGE FOLLOWING ITS COLLAPSE

HAD COLLIDED WITH IT, THE BILL WAS PASSED BY BOTH
HousEs OF THE PARLIAMENT AND RECEIVED THE ROYAL ASSENT
ON 19 MAY 1975. THE TASMAN BRIDGE RESTORATION ACT 1975
PROVIDED FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A JOINT TASMAN BRIDGE

PRIME MINISTER: I thought I might say a few things about the
Budget at the outset. Tonight the Leader of the Opposition will
have an opportunity to be precise in his criticisms of the Budget.
He has made some general criticisms thatit'sa bad Budget and so
on. He has also lamented many of the changes'brought about,
particularly in the tax system. This seems to strike home very
grievously to him, but anyrate he will be able to be precise. tonight,

either of them, if they want private hospital treatment,
in having it in the A. C. T.
I suggest to patients in the A. C. T. that, if at any
time a doctor says that there is no way that they
can get free hospital treatment in the A. C. T. and
then come back to him as private patients after
hospital treatment, they should ask that doctor

NAMIBIA DAY
Acting Foreign Minister, Mr Whitlam, reiterated
today Australia's moral and material support to the people
of Namibia. In a statement to mark Namibia Day on 26 August the
Acting Minister said that Namibia Day had been designatdd by
the United Nations at the General Assembly session in 1973 as
an annual reminder of the illegal jurisdiction of South Africa
over the territory. The Australian Government, he said, was particularly
concerned about the deprivation of basic human rights and the
