ROYAL COMMISSION INTO HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, said today that he
had received a letter from the Premier of New South Wales
stating that the New South Wales Government was prepared
to assist the Royal Commission into Human Relationships in
its inquiries. The State will provide information and advice in
response to particular requests of the Commission as it
is able to do. The Premier also put forward arrangements
for liaison with the New South Wales Government.

VISIT BY THE PRINCESS ANNE AND CAPTAIN-MARK PHILLIPS
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, announced today that
the following statement had been issued from Buckingham Palace.
" The Princess Anne, Mrs Mark Phillips, and
Captain Mark Phillips, have accepted with very
much pleasure the invitation from the Australian
Government and from the Government of South
Australia to visit South Australia in April next
to attend the International Equestrian Expo 1975.

STATE AGENTS-GENERAL
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, today denied reports
that he had any intention of raising with the British Government
the position of State Agents-General in London.
Mr Whitlam said he appreciated that the Agents-
General had a role to perform in relation to commercial and
related matters to which the States attributed considerable
importance. There was, however, no suggestion that Agents-
General exercised diplomatic functions, as these were the

WORKING PARTIES ON THE ECONOMY
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, said today the
Australian Government has still not received assurances from
all States that they would co-operate in implementing
joint economic measures, particularly in relation to prices.
Mr Whitlam was commenting on a report that the
South Australian Premier, Mr Dunstan, had claimed that the
Australian Government had ignored offers-by the States to hand
over their powers on prices to the Prices Justification

MINISTERIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
The Prime Minister, Mr. Whitlam, has announced that the
Governor-General today swore-in the Honourable Jim Cairns, M. P.
as Treasurer and the Honourable Frank Crean, as Minister
for Overseas Trade.
This gives effect to the Prime Minister's announcement
of 21 November 1974 that these changes would be made at the end
of the Budget sittings.
The Prime Minister also announced that the Governor-
General had approved certain changes in administrative

PRIME MINISTER'S OVERSEAS VISIT
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, said today that
he had no intention of postponing again his visit to
Europe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that while Australia faces
a number of difficulties related to the economy, it would
be irresponsible to give the impression overseas and
indeed in Australia that the country was in such a
parlous state that the Prime Minister was unable to leave

POLITICAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN
The Australian Government has taken action to
accede to the UN Convention on the Political Rights of Women
and to ratify ILO Convention No. 100 ( Equal Remuneration).
Announcing this today, the Prime Minister, Mr.
Whitlam, said 10 December 1974 was a fitting date for
Australia to become a party to those two Conventions.
It was on 10 December 1948 that the United Nations General
Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The

INDUSTRIES ASSISTANCE COMMISSION REPORT
FOUNDATION GARMENTS
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, announced today
that'as a long term objective the Government has accepted the
Industries Assistance Commission's recommendation in its report
on Foundation Garments.
Mr Whitlam. said that in view of current economic
conditions and the possible employment consequences of introduction
of the reduced duties recommended by the Commission at this time,

The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam,. announced today
that as a long term objective the Government has accepted the
recommendations of the Industries Assistance Commission in its
report on Tyre Cord and Tyre Cord Fabric.
Mr Whitlam said that in view of current economic

Industries Assistance Commission Report
Polyester and Polyamide Yarns
The Prime Minister, Mr. Whitlam, today announced
the Government's decision on the report of the Industries
Assistance Commission on polyester and polyamide yarns.
Mr Whitlam said that the Governme nt accepted the
long-term level of assistance of 15% for raw and processed
yarns as recommended by the Commission but because of
