AMBASSADOR TO AR. ENTINA, PERU
AND URUGUAY
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Whitlam, announced
today the appointment of Mr H. A. Dunn as Australian Ambassador to
Argentina, Pern and Uruguay with residence in Buenos Aires, to
succeed Mr H. W. Bullock whose appointment as High Commissioner to
Fiji, Western Samoa and Tonga was announced recently.
Mr Dunn, who was born in 1923, was educated at Brisbane
Boys' College and the Uiiversity of Queensland. He was a member of

TO VISIT APSTRAIIA
The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Mr Whitlam, said today that he was looking forward to the visit
of the Foreign Minister of Tanzania, Mr John Malecela, who will
be arriving in Australia on 9 March for what he has described as
a goodwill visit.
It is understood that one of the purposes of Mr Malecela's
visit is to convey to the Prime Minister a personal message from
the President of Tanzania, Mr Julius Nyerere. He has also intimated

RATIFICATION OF ILO CONVENTIONS
( This corrects our statement of yesterday,
which inadvertently referred in the second
paragraph to the Conventions, " numbers 87
and 108". The correct numbers are 87 and
98.)
The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Mr Whitlam, said today he was pleased to announce that Australia
had deposited instruments of ratification of two Conventions of
the International Labour Organisation with the Director-General
of the ITO in Geneva.

recently completed Australian Government Centre in
Arm Street, Brisbane, adjoining Anzac Square, on
23 March at 3.30 p. m.
Mr. Fred Daly, the Minister for Services and

Commonwealth Trading Bank within the Commonwealth Banking

AND U. AFTER KHARTOUM KILLINGS
In special messages to the United States Secretary of
State, Mr Rogers, and to the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Mr Van Elslande, the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign
0 Affairs, Mr WVhitlam, said today that he and his colleagues had
been deeply shocked at the cold blooded assassination in Khartoum
of two members of the United States Foreign Service and the
Belgian Charge d'Affaires.

Party's leader, here at Devonport.

RIVER MURRAY COMMISSION
The Prime Minister announced today that at the request
of the Premier of South Australia a meeting had been held
between the Premiers of New South Wales, Victoria and South
Australia and himself concerning the River Murray, the existing
powers of the River Murray Commission and the problems which had
arisen in ensuring water quality in the River Murray. The meeting
was also attended by the Hon. Moss Cass, Australian Minister

DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARD SCHEME
In October The Duke of Edinburgh will arrive in Australia
a few days in advance of The Queen to attend an Australian/ Pacific
Conference for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
The Conference is to take place in Canberra on Monday
and Tuesday 16 October and it is hoped that a number of Pacific
Islands will be represented.
After The Queen's departure from Australia following the
opening of the Sydney Opera House His Royal Highness plans to

AUSTRALIAN FILM AND TELEVISION SCHOOL
The Government will make grants totalling
$ 19,270 as part of its programme of assistance to
film and television in Australia. The grants were
recommended by the Interim Council for the Australian
Film and Television School.
The grants will go to:-
1. ROLAND CANTLEY of Thursday Island, Torres Strait-,,
North Australia $ 3,000 to assist him in the
preparation of the final shooting script and
provisional narrative script for the film
