The Australian Secretary to The Queen for the
Royal Visit, Sir Roy Dowling, D. S. 0o, will meet
in Canberra on Monday, 16th July, with State representatives
to consider proposals for the Royal Visit next year.
State representatives will be asked to put forward
ideas for the programme within each State. These will include
events of special significance which might form the basis of
visit plans, Admiral Dowling will leave for London on Wednesday,

and The Rt. Hon. Mr, Peter Thorneycroft, British
Minister of Aviation,
The discussions between the Right Honourable Peter
Thorneycroft, British Minister of Aviation, and the Australian
Government, which began in Canberra on Wednesday, have been
concluded satisfactorily.
The main purpose of the discussions was to review the
working of the Anglo-Australian arrangements for the Woomera joint

I am now in a position to announce certain tentative
arrangements for the forthcoming visit to Australia of Her
Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness, the Duke of
Edinburgh. It is expected that the Royal couple will arrive
in Canberra by air from New Zealand on Monday. February 18.
Thereafter, they will engage in a tour which will take them
into all six States and the Northern Territory.

Statement by the Prime Minister the Rton Menzies
The Commonwealth Government has appointed Vice-
Admiral Sir Roy Dowling, C. 3.7 to take
charge of the planning of the visit to Australia next
year of Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness
the Duke of Edinburgh.
Sir Roy Dowling will be Her Majesty's Australian
Secretary for the occasion and will be a member of the
Royal Household throughout the visit.
Arrangements have been made for him to visit
