JOINT COMMUNIQUE
VISIT OF PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN
Mr. Hayato Ikeda, Prime Minister of Japan,
accompanied by Mrs. Ikeda is visiting Australia as the guest
of the Government of the Cormonwealth of Australia from 29th
September to 3rd October, 1963. During his stay in Australia,
Mr. Ikeda will visit Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, and have
discussions with Sir Robert Menzies and other Cabinet Ministers.

NEW AUSTRALIAN CASH LOAN IN LONDON
Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Menzies
The Prime Minister and Chairman of the Australian
Loan Council ( Sir Pobert Menzies) gave details tonight of a new
Australian cash loan which has been negotiated in London by the
Commonwealth Treasurer ( Mr. Harold Holt) with the approval of the
Loan Council. The loan will be for an amount of œ Stg. 20 million
million) and will carry an interest rate of 5j per cent

The Prime Minister said tonight that, since answering the question in the House this afternoon, he had examined his correspondence and found that he had indeed heard from Mrs. Brown of Shenton Park, on 2nd August, and had thanked her in a letter dated 21st August.

The exchange of letters had slipped his memory when the question was asked.

appointed by the Commonwealth Government to be Commonwealth
Director of the arrangements for the visit to Australia
next February/ March by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen
Mother. The Headquarters of the Royal Visit Organisation
will be at Canberra in the Prime Minister's Department.
