The first 100 Commonwealth post-graduate scholarships
had been awarded and the scheme was now successfully launched,
the Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, announced to-day.
The 100 awards made available by the Commonwealth
this year were allocated to Universities by the Universities
Cormission in consultation with the Vice-Chancellors' Committee.
Most Universities had completed selection for their

Commonwealth and State authorities connected
with the organisation of' the visit to Australia of
Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Kent met in
Canberra to-day.
They discussed co-ordination of the programme
to be submitted to Her Royal Highness in London early
next month, after her return from her visit to Latin
America.

The following is a list of the Commonwealth Organisation
for the visit of Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of
Kent. Her Royal Highness will spend about 6 weeks in
Australia from August 15th next, and will visit the Australian
Capital Territory, Queensland ( where she will spend 3 weeks),
New South Wales and Victoria.

Statement by the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, announced to-day
that Mr. dI. R. CUMMIING, Assistant Secretary, Prime MinisterKL
Department, would be Director-General of the visit to Australia
later this year by Her Royal Highness The Princess Alexandra of Ken-'-.
Mr. Cumming has had considerable experience in the
planning of visits to Australia by members of the Royal Family.

Statement by the Prime Minister
The dates for the forthcoming Premiers' Conference
would remain unchanged, the Prime Minister ( Mr. Menzies) said
to-day. The conference will begin in Canberra on March 4,
and is expected to last for three days.
Mr. Menzies said, " W1e have considered suggestions
that the date of the conference should be changed because three
State elections will take place in March.

Statement by the Prime Minister
The first stage in the movement of the Defence and
Service Departments to Canberra had been completed with quite remarkable
efficiency, the Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, said to-day.
" A movement of this nature cannot help but be accompanied
