State Premiers for meetings of the Premiers' Conference and the
Australian Loan Council to be held in Canberra on Thursday
22 June, continuing if necessary on Friday 23 June.

CONCLUSION OF MEETING OF LIBERAL PARTY JOINT
STANDING COMMITTEE ON FEDERAL POLICY 7 APRIL 1972
PM: Gentlemenk' I think you know that over the last few days
there has been some publicity about the meeting of the
Standing Committee on Federal Policy which is that section
of the Organisation, or that Policy Group within the
Organisation, that can make recommendations to the
Government about matters which it feels should be taken
into consideration, and if thought desirable, implemented
by the Government.

AUSTRALIAN ENVIRONMIENT COUNCIL MEETING
Statement by the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon. William
McMahon, C. H. M. P.
The Prime Minister said today he welcomed the first formal
meeting of the Australian Environment Council as evidence of a
co-ordinated nationwide approach to the problems of improving and
protecting the environment and the management of pollution throughout
Australia. The Council, which comrrises Commonwealth and State
ministers resonsible for environmental matters, meets in Sydney

HIGH COURT BUILDING

The Government has decided on the siting of the
High Court building in Canberra.
Thr-Pri. me MinisLi: said today that it had been
decided that the High Court building would stand within an
area lying to the north of the Administration Building, in
the Parliamentary Triangle.
The Government had also approved the holding of
an architectural competition to establish the design of the

The Territorial Sea and Continental Shelf Bill
1970 was discussed at the normal weekly meeting of the joint
Government Parties. Three aspects of the Bill were discus-sed:
The progress made between the Commonwealth and the
States relating to the matters to be discussed
at the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference,
possibly in 1973.

CORAL SEA GUEST

Astronaut John L. Swigert will come to Australia for the
Coral Sea Week celebrations this year.
Mr Swigert's official itinerary will begin in Sydney onr.
Monday 1 May, and from there he will visit Canberra-Adelaide,
Melbourne and Hobart in that order. He is scheduled to leave
Australia on Sunday 7 May.

I feel a little like Daniel as the guest of the
regional lions. Mostly, I come face to face with the papers in
the morning an hour or so before breakfast. On this occasion,
it is a pleasure to meet you at the end of the day, and in pretty
distinguished company. I know you have no intention of spoiling
m y dinner as you sometimes spoil my breakfast.

VISIT OF MR. MARSHALL GREEN
Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon William McMahon, CH, MP
The visit to Australia by Mr. Marshall Green has
provided the opportunity to discuss in a very full and frank way
the results of President Nixon's visit to the People' Republic of
China. Mr. Green emphasised that United States policy in
Asia remained the same today as it had been prior to thie President's
visit, and that United States support for its treaty allies in the
region remained as firm as previously.
