As I explained when I passed through Singapore last
week, my visit here is part of a comprehensive tou~ r to the countries
of South-East Asia where Australian Forces are station,, d Viet Nam,
Thailand, Yeayalsia, and Singapore.
Australia, as a fellow member of the Commonwealth, has
been followin, with interest the developments here since Singapore

Thank you very warmly, Dr. Toh, for your warmth of
welcome to me and to those who have accompanied me as we have gone
about this phase of our journey here in Singapore.

SURGICAL TEAM NUIRSES IN VIET NAML
The Minister for External Affairs, Mr Hasluck, today issued
the following statement about arrangements being made for the departure
of four nurses from the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne to join the
Australian Suirgical Team at Bien Hoa in Viet Nam.

REGIONAL TAXATION OFFICE TO OPEN
AT WOLLONGONG, NEW SOUTH WALES
The Commonwealth Treasurer, the Hon. William McMahon,
announced today that a branch of the Taxation, Office would be
opening at Wollongong, New South Wales on 2nd May, 1966.
The office will be located in the Manchester Unity

have had the statement I made for my visit here, which outlined
where I've been, what the general purpose of the visit has been
and our plans for the remainder of the tour.

I am delighted to pay my first official visit to Malaysia
as the Prime Minister of Australia.
I am, as you may be aware, no stranger to the charm of
your country and the warmth of your hospitality.

Thank you Mr. Linh for your introduction and good
morning to you ladies and gentlemen.
As Mr. Linh has explained to you, I have a prepared
statement. I thought having regard to the need for translation,
in respect of some of the members of the press, it might be
desirable t0 have a statement preparea which coulu be translated
before-hand and so it gives an outline of what I wish to say.
