DROUGHT RELIEF VICTORIA AND SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Holt
On Monday last discussions were held between officials from
the Commonwealth and States of Victoria and South Australia about
ways in which the Commonwealth might help the two States provide
relief in those areas at present suffering from drought. I had
already indicated the Commonwealth Government's willingness to

Statement by the Minister for Repatriation,
Senator the Hon. G. Colin McKellar
For the second year in succession, the I. inister for
Repatriation, Senator McKellar, will have his Christmas dinner
with the Australian troops of the task force at Nui Dat,
Vietnam. Senator McKellar made this announcement at the National
Congress of the Returned Services League in Melbourne today.
He will leave Australia on December 19 and will
visit all Australian troops stationed in South Vietnam.

Statement by the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Australian Loan Council, Mr Harold Holt

The Prime Minister ( Mr Holt) announced today that arrangements have been concluded in Washington for a loan of $ US25 million ($ A22.3 million) to the Commonwealth from the Export-Import Bank of America ( Eximbank).

The Prime Minister, Mr. Holt, announced today that the Rt. Hon. Paul Hasluck, ( Minister for External Affairs) would lead a Special Mission to Saigon to represent Australia at the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Viet Nam on 30th October.

Sir James Plimsoll ( Secretary to the Department of External Affairs) will accompany the Minister.

APPOINTMENTS OF NATIONAL LIBRAIAN
AND PARLIAMENTARY LIBRARIAN
From 1st January, 1968, the two positions of National
Librarian and Parliamentary Librarian, which to date have been
vested in the one office, will be separated in recognition of
the development of the two libraries and the completion of the
new National Library building next year.
