Unconfirmed reports say that the flow of oil from Iran has
been shut down. A State Department official in Washington told
Peter Barnett it appeared that only American tankers were
affected by the shut down, the flow had been stopped to all
vessels. There has been no official explanation from Iran or
any indication how long the stoppage would last. Oil industry
sources in New York reported that the crisis had been caused by

The Great Barrier Reef is a unique and irreplaceable part
of Australia's heritage. It is, in fact, one of the great
natural wonders of the world.

Governor-General has approved the proclamation of the
Capricornia section of the reef as the first stage of the
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

The Australia Council has announced a major inquiry into
opera in Australia. It follows a series of upheavals in
the Australian Opera with its latest General Manager,
Mr. Peter Hemnmings, leaving the country last night having
served only two years of a three year engagement.
There is still confusion over reports earlier today that
the Soviet President, Mr. Breshnev is critically ill or even
dead. Breshnev has dominated Soviet politics. Krushov's

Soviet leader is dead. There is no confirmation from Moscow
that Mr Brezhnev is either ill or dead, although many diplomats.
believe he has been either very over-tired or that his chronic
ill-health has suddenly worsened.
The Carter administration moved swiftly today following a Judge's
ruling that would block the United States from ending the mutual
defence treaty with Taiwan.

The Federal Government is not changing its position over
amendments to industrial law. The Federal Minister for
Industrial Relations, Mr. Tony Street, has issued a statement
about his talks on the matter last night with the President
of the Arbitration Commission, Sir John Moore. Mr. Street's
