The Committee has now completed its work and I am pleased
to be able to release its Report today for public discussion
and comment.

ADDRESS' TO VICTORIAN STATE. COUNCIL
I mst say, that itl is good to be back at Maivern Town -all
from where we launched our last great election victory.
A meeting of this kind, in any year, is an important occasion.
But in this election year, it provides a significant opp. Dortunity
to share, with genuine pride, in the optimism that now
exists about Australia's future.
Major indicators reflect more than favourably on our
chances in the year ahead. And these chances, emerging for

Tonight I would like to mnentionI some of the important initiatives
the Government has taken recently in Immigration and Ethnic Affairs.
On the one hand, there is a need to maintain a strong and viable
Immigration programme which meet Australia's needs for skilled
manpower and satisfies the desires of existing residents to be
re-united with members of their families.
But we also need to ensure that this inflow of migrants . is
controlled in fairness, both to those seeking entry to Australia

THE LAUNCHING OF DR. JOHN HICKMAN' S BOOK,
" ONE STEP AT A TIME" ADELAIDE_____
One of the most pleasing results of a cask such as this is the
insight it provides into the life of one man, like Dr. Hickman,
proceeding through life's experiences, one step at a time.
Here is an entertaining and informative story of the day-to-day
problems caused by physical disability.
Because of books like this, we are made to stop and think about
what it means to be a disabled person in the modern world.

ELECTORATE TALK
Federal Cabinet has been meeting in Canberra over the past
week making decisions that will lead to the framing of this
year's Budget.
There is still much to be done, but-the Budget that the
Treasurer will deliver in four weeks' time will consolidate
and strengthen the progress that we have made over the
past five years.
That progress has resulted from consistent policies that
have cast aside soft options and the so-called " easy solutions"
