WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY
I have written to the Premiers and the Chief Minister of the
Northern Territory concerning the development of a National
Conservation Strategy incorporating the proposals outlined in the
World Conservation Strategy launched in Australia and thirty
other countries on 6 March, 1980.
The World Conservation Strategy seeks to integrate conservation.

WORLD CONSERVATION STRATEGY
The Prime Minister, Mr. Malcolm Fraser, today announced the
Commonwealth Government's proposals in relation to World
Conservation Strategy. Mr. Fraser recalled that on 6 March, -1980
he had attended the national launching of the Strategy and had
accepted it on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.
The Strategy, which was jointly developed by the International
Union for the Conservation of Nature and National Resources
( IUCN), the United Nations Environment Program ( UNEP) and

DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER, THE RT. HON. J. D. ANTHONY, MP
The Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister today jointly
condemned any attempts to induce independent candidates to
stand as a means of attracting additional support for the
Labor Party in the Queensland State elections.
Any tactic which resulted in additional support for the Labor
Party would inevitably be damaging to the future of the State

THE THIRTY-SECOND PARLIAMENT
The thirty-second Parliament will be opened by the
Governor-General's Deputy at 11: 00 am on Tuesday,
November, 198' 0. His Excellency, the Governor-General,
will deliver the opening speech at 3: 00 pm on the same day.
The proclamation fixing the time and date of the opening
was signed by the Governor-General today.
Mr. John Bourchier has been re-appointed Government Whip in
the House of Representatives, and Mr. John Hodges has
been re-appointed Deputy Government Whip.

THE NEW MINISTRY
His Excellency the Governor-General has
authorised rr. e to announce details of the new Ministry
which will be sworn at Governr. ent House tomorrow.
It has been decided to reduce the number of
Departments by two and the number of Ministers by one.
This means there will now be twenty six Ministers and
twenty six Departments.
The full list of Ministers and their portfolios
is shown in the attached list.

Financial Times Conference.
The Financial Times is to be congratulated not only on choosing
a most appropriate topic but on being able, so it seems, to time
it well in relation to the election.

I would like to thank everyone around Australia who has supported the Government, the Liberal Party and the National Party, to make sure the Coalition Government continues over the next three years.

Over the last five years there have at times been some difficult decisions, and some problems along the way. But as we have argued over the last few weeks, a good deal of progress has been made.
