APPOINTMENT OF AUSTRALIAN EQUERRY TO QUEEN FOR ROYAL VISIT
The Queen has approved the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel
P. R. Badman, Royal Australian Armoured Corps, as Australian
Equerry to The Queen for her visit to Australia in March 1977.
The appointment has followed advice received from Buckingham
Palace that The Queen would be glad to have an Australian
Equerry appointed for the visit.

WOMEN'S ADVISORY BODY WORKING PARTY
A Working Party recently set up by the Prime Ministert. to
prepare recommendations for the Commonwealth Governmetnt
on a Women's Advisory Body met today to arrange for wide
consultation with women and women's groups throughout:
Australia. This was announced today by the Minister assisting the
Prime Minister in Women's Affairs, Mr. Ian McPhee.

ADDRESS TO THE NATIONAL CHRISTIAN YOUTH CONVENTION, CANBERRA
I am pleased to be with you tonight at your ninth National
Christian Youth Convention.
It is a particular pleasure to welcome to Australia delegates
and distinguished visitors from overseas. The fact that the
Convention has been able to attract so many people from so many
nations is a tribute to the continuing vitality of the Convention.
The response to the Convention has, I am advised, been unparalleled.

NINTH NATIONAL CONVENTION OF YOUNG LIBERALS MOVEMENT
It is a great pleasure for me to be here at the Ninth Annual
Convention of the Young Liberal Movement.
The Young Liberal Movement has always placed great emphasis
on social issues. The Government values the part the Young
Liberal Movement has in developing its forward policies its
role as a sounding board for testing ideas, and in alerting
the Government to the views of young people across the whole
range of national issues.

STANDARD OF OVERSEAS AIR TRAVEL
Following a Public Service Board decision that st~ iff
employed under the Public Service Act will travel overseas
by air at the same standard as they travel in Australia,
the Government has decided to apply the same revised standard
for overseas air travel to Commonwealth employees outside the
Public Service Act staff of statutory authorities..)
This will mean that the new standard will be economy class,

PUBLIC SERVICE TRANSFERS TO CANBERRA
The Commonwealth Government has approved the transfer to
Canberra of some 440 Public Service and Defence Service'
positions in 1977 and 1978. The transfers will continue the
consolidation in Canberra of the policy advising elements Of
Commonwealth Government departments currently located i~ n
Melbourne. A small number of other positions will be transferred
from Sydney and Adelaide in the interests of increased
administrative efficiency. Apart from an overall increase in

WORKING PARTY TO ESTABLISH A NATIONAL ADVISORY BODY OF WOMEN
A Working Party has been set up to draw up recommendations
for the Government to set up a national advisory body of women.
Following agreements made at a series of meetings between
himself and women's organisations in early September, the
Working Party was elected in a ballot by the 24 groups attending.
The members of the Working Party are:

One year ago the men and women of Australia gave the
Liberal-National Country Party coalition the job of restoring
responsible management to the nation's affairs.
Australians knew then the job could not be completed overnight.
Australians knew that our economic problems were deep-seated
and that the return to economic strength and stability would take
time. I told the nation that to start Australia back on the road to
