MINISTERIAL APPANGEMENTS
I announce the appointment of The Honourable
Paul Hasluck as Minister for External Affairs and
Senator The Honourable Shane Platridge as Minister for
Defence. Mr. Hasluck.. replaces Sir Carfield Barwic
whose resignation to take up the position of Chief Justice
of Australia was announced yesterday, and Senator Paltridge
takes over the Defence portfolio vacated by Mr. Hasluck.
Senator Paltridge will continue, for the time being, to
hold the position of Minister for Civil Aviation.
A further announcement on Ministerial arrangements
will be made at a later date.
