His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh will travel to and from Australia by regularly-scheduled Qantas Boeing flights, on his visit to Perth for the British Empire and Commonwealth Games. He will arrive in Sydney from London via San Francisco on Tuesday, 20th November and come on to Canberra by R. A. A. F. Metropolitan Convair.
On Wednesday, 21st November, His Royal Highness will travel to Perth by R. A. A. F. Convair and will officially open the Games the following afternoon.
His Royal Highness will leave Perth on his homeward journey again by the Qantas scheduled Perth/ London service.
The Commonwealth Government has arranged with Qantas for the Duke and his party to travel in the forward section of the aircraft. Normal seating facilities in the rear compartment will be available to other passengers.
As His Royal Highness will be in Canberra only briefly after the long flight, he will have few engagements. Details of these engagements are not yet available.
