I am deeply concerned and have been in touch with the hospital. Also, ! have asked for full details of this dreadful incident as soon as possible .
Australian puplic life has been singularly free of episodes of violence. I deeply deplore and strongly condemn this gross violation of our democratic traditions.
My sympathy goes to Mrs Calwell in her anxiety and I extend my best hopes to Mr. Calwell for a speedy recovery.
