It is my intention to recommend to the Governor-General that he appoint Rosemary Huxtable PSM as the Secretary of the Department of Finance.
Rosemary has been a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Finance since June 2013 providing advice and managing processes for the Commonwealth Budget and economic updates. Prior to that, Rosemary spent three years as a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Health with responsibility for policies and programmes in the areas of ageing and aged care, mental health and e-health, and seven years prior to that in Health senior executive roles focussing particularly on Medicare and Pharmaceutical Benefits. She has worked extensively in social policy across the public and private sectors.
In 2005 Rosemary received a Public Service Medal for her work on Medicare reform.
