Statement by the Prime Minister3 the Rt. Hon. R. G. Menzies.
The Cabinet today gave consideration to certain
approaches which have been made to the Commonwealth concerning
taking over the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories. This is
the first time that the matter has been before Cabinet. The
nature of the approaches was outlined to Cabinet by the
Minister for Health, Dr. Cameron.
Cabinet decided that the Commonwealth Serum
Laboratories should be retained under Government control, and
that the proposals put forward should, accordingly, be not
entertained. CANBERRA, 3rd February, 1960.
