Ladies and gentleman , well may we say God Save the Queen because nothing will save the Governor-General.

The proclamation which you have just heard read by the Governor-General’s official secretary was countersigned ‘Malcolm Fraser’ who will undoubtedly go down in Australian history from Remembrance Day 1975 as Kerr’s cur.

They won’t silence the outskirts of Parliament House, even if the inside has been silenced for the next few weeks .

MEETING BETWEEN~ PRIME'MINISTER AND OPPOSITION LEADERS
Mr Fraser has asked for a meeting. As I am always
ready to discuss issues rationally and sensibly, I welcomed
the opportunity to do just that. Mr Fraser is now saying
* he will-insist absolutely on the requirements for a general
election before Christmas-. or before 30 June. He is also
insisting that Australian Government officials be present
to advise him and his colleagues..

PROFESSOR R. I. DOWNING
I was deeply shocked to hear of Professor Downing's
death. The loss of this outstanding Australian will be keenly
felt in his own country and abroad. There was scarcely an'area
of our intellectual and artistic life that he did not adorn
with his wisdom, his experience and with the singular
warmth and force of his personality.
I took special satisfaction from his appointment as
Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Commission in 1973,

THE BUDGET -THE SENATE DELAY
our nation is now entering the fifth week of the
Constitutional crisis caused by the action of the Senate
in blocking the Budget. Amid all the worry and anxiety
caused by the actions of the Senate, the message I wish to
bring tonight is basically one of reassurance. The really
important thing that has happened in Australia over the
last three or four weeks has been the proof of the basic
strength and steadiness of the Australian people, their

PRIME MINISTER' S WEEKLY BROADCAST
THE DRIFT TO DISASTER
Sunday 9 November 1975
I want to suggest one very good way of
describing the present behaviour of the Senate of
putting that behaviour in perspective. It's a comparison
that should appeal strongly to Opposition members themselves.
The Liberals and the Country Party are fond of condemning
Australian workers whenever they go on strike. They love
to getup and fulminate about the evil of strikes. I wonder
if it ever occurs to them that the Senate's present

THE PORT HEDLAND CYCLONE
I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN AND SYMPATHY FOR THOSE
WHO HAVE LOST THEIR HOMES IN THE PORT HEDLAND CYCLONE.
I AM RELIEVED TO HEAR THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO LOSS OF LIFE FROM
THE CYCLONE WHICH AFFECTED PORT HEDLAND EARLIER TODAY.
I HAVE ASKED THE SPECIAL MINISTER OF STATE SENATOR WITHERS TO
GO TO PORT HEDLAND TOMORROW, NOT ONLY IN HIS OWN CAPACITY AS
A MINISTER BUT ALSO TO REPRESENT ME.
HE WILL REPORT DIRECTLY TO ME ON THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY
THE CYCLONE.

THE BUDGET -STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER
It's now more than three weeks since the Opposition
in the Senate embarked on its reckless course of blocking the
Budget. It must be quite clear to them by now that their
attempt to subvert the elected Government has failed completely.
Yet wilfully, want~ only, in the face of this knowledge,
with total disregard for the nation's welfare, they persist
in a course which must gravely damage the economy and damage

RIME MINISTER'S * INTERVIEW WITH MIKE WILLESEE, 6 NOVEMBER 1975.

WILLESEE:, Prime Minister thanks for joining us. You seem very determined?

PRIME MINISTER: Quite.

WILLESEE: Totally determined?

PRIME MINISTER: On the central issue,. totally.

WILLESEE: The central issue, you mean that the Senate mustn't take money away from the Government?

PRIME MINISTER: That's right. Inr other words the PartyN'which the people give a majority in the House of Representatives must be allowed to govern.
