S. PRESS RELEASE: GENERAL NASUTION'S VISIT.
The Acting Prime Minister today said that the Indonesian
Minister for National Security and Chief of Staff of the Army, General
Abdul Haris Nasution, would arrive in Sydney on Tuesday morning,
18th April, and from there would travel to Canberra by R. A. A. F. Convair
for a ceremonial welcome. General Nasution would be accompanied by his
wife. Mr. McEwen also announced that the Indonesian Minister and Chief
of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral R. E. Martadinata, who had accepted a

The following is a summary of a statement by the
Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, . t the opening public session of
S. E. A. T. O. Council on March 27th
SEATO is meeting at a very important time in the world's
history. For some time global war has been restrained by the
balancing of military power and feeling has grown that a great
war is improbable, except through an act of lunacy or error of
judgment. But absence of major war does not reflect a Communist

The Acting Prime Minister ( Pt. Hon. J. F. McEwen)
announced this afternoon that Cabinet hac decided that the
Government Aircraft Far-tory woulc be prime contractor for the
Yrench Dassault Mirage Fighter for the Royal Australian Air
Force. He said that the Government had invited the
Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation to manufacture the engine
and the wing and fin for the fighter.

The Acting Prime Minister ( Mr. J. McEwen announced
today that Australia was to participate in an International.
Air Show in Singapore.
It has been organised by the Singapore Government
at the Paya Lebar International Airport from April 8th t. o
Anril 16th. Mr. McEwen said that Singapore played an important
part in Australia's air links with the rest of the world.. The
participation reflected the-importance which the Australian

CONTRIBUTION TO INDONESIAN RED CROSS
Statement by the Acting Prime Ministers Mr. J. Mc& wen
The Acting Prime Minister today announced that the
AustralianGovernment would contributefElO, O00 to the
Indonesian Red Cross for relief in disaster-affected areas
in Indonesia. Mr. McEwen said that severe damage had been caused
recently by a cyclone in the Tanimbar Islands and by
flooding in Western Java. In referring to these disasters,
Mr. McEwen expressed the sympathy of the Australian people
