Sir Robert and Lady Webster and all the rest of you
I want to tell you in the first place that these pieces
of fabric, precariously woven are warmly received. That is the
huntin, tartan in what is called in Scotland the old vegetable dye,
( Laughter) which only goes to show that even Webster can be up to
date occasionally, Laughter) ( Applause)
And in the second place, I would like to tell you this.

WOOL RESERVE PRICE PLAN 1965
My attention has been directed to the terms of
a nation-wide broadcast to woolgrowers by Mr. 5.5. Nevile,
Chairman of the Australian Wool Board's Marketing Committee.
In this broadcast, the following statement
occurs " Finally, the Prime Minister has clearly revealed
the views concerning the reserve price arrangement of
his Government, and I quote ' Besides protecting the

Sir, Mr. Premier and Ladies and Gentlemen
Something tells me I might have to get into the lift
again on the way out, so I will take time by the forelock I
declare this building open. ( Laughter) hAat happens thereafter
can't alter the fact that this building is now, believe it or not,
open. Some of you may know that I am a species of politician
and a politician becomes accustomed to the ups and downs of life.

MINISTER IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON
23RD SEPTEMBER, 19755
" lThat the House agrees with. the Committee that
the advertisement in question involved a breach of
Parliamentary Privilege.
That in the opinion of the House the said
advertisement was also defamatory of the Honourable the
Leader of the Opposition, in that it falsely represented
him as using his parliamentary position to advertise a
commercial product. That while the House accepts the Committee's

AVAILABILITY OF VERNON REPORT
The Report of the Committee of Economic
Enquiry is being published as a book for public sale.
The books should be ready early next year.
In the meantime, only a limited number of
copies of the Report, in multilith form, will be
available to meet urgent needs. Requests for the
multilith version should be directed to the Prime
Minister's Department, Canberra.

VISIT BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF THAILAND
Statement y the Prime Ministe SirRobe rt Menzies
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies,
said in Canberra today that Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn,
Prime Minister of Thailand, had accepted the Government's
invitation to visit Australia as a guest. He would be
accompanied by his wife.
The visit would take place from 28th
October until 6th or 7th November. Consultations about
the programme of engagements were now taking place and
details would be announced later.

FORMER NAVAL CHIEF TO SUPERVISE AUSTRALIAN PARTICIPATION
IN CANADIAN EXHIBITION
Statement by te Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies
Vice-Admiral Sir Hastings Harrington, C. B. E,
DS. O. has been appointed as Commissioner-General to represent
Australia in connection with the International Exhibition
El' 67 to be held in Montreal, Canada, betieen April and
October, 1967 as part of the Canadian Government's celebration
of the centenary of Canadian Confederation.

The Prime Minister announced today that the Uommonwealth Government proposes to establish a National Art Gallery in Canberra.

As a first step, a Committee of Inquiry has been set up with the following terms of reference:-

" To report on the proposal for a National Art Gallery withi particular reference to the functions of such a gallery; and the method of control, the accommodation and the staff to carry out these functions."
