ROYAL VISIT 1963
The Australian Secroery to the Queen Sir Roy
Dowling, will visit Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs and
Adelaide during an eight-day tour beginning on Mcnday.
During the tour, Sir Roy Dowling will have
detailed discussions with Royal Visi t directors in Western
Australia ( Mr, R. Doig), in the Northern Territory ( Mr, R,
Nott) and in South Australia ( Mr. L. King),
Sir Roy Dowling will also tour and inspect the
places which it is proposed the Queen sh~ ould visit in the
two States and the Northern Territory.

The Acting Prime Minister, Senator Spooner, announced
today that the Commonwealth Government has agreed to extend
beyond the current financial year the provision of financial
assistance to the State of Western Australia for developmental
projects in the Kimberley region.

Statement by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister
for National Development, Senator W. H. Spooner, M. M.
The New South Wales coalmining industry had increased its
trade with Japan at the expense of the United States, the
Minister for National Development, Senator Snoonor, said in
Cessnock yesterday.
The American share of coal exports to Japan had fallen from
60.2% in 1960 to 53.4% in 1961, he said.
Australia in 3960 supplied 16.6/ o of Japanese coal imports,

The meeting of Commonwealth Prime Ministers was concluded
today. This was the first occasio i on which Sierra Leone,
Tanganyika, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago have been represented,
as independent countries, at a Commonwealth meeting, and tha
presence of their Prime Ministers, together representing 15 million
people who have achieved independence since the last Commonwealth

The King and Queen of Thailand’s Australian tour had strengthened the bond of friendship and understanding between the two countries, the Acting Prime Minister, Senator Spooner said tonight.

He was speaking on the eve of the Thai Royal couple’s departure fop home. They are due. to leave Perth by air for Bangkok tomorrow morning ( 8am Western Australian Time)
