Statement bPj the Prime Minister, Mr. William McMahon
In Canberra tonight, at the Air Board dinner marking the 50th Anniversary
of the Royal Australian Airforce, the Minister for Air, Senator Drake-Brockman,
announced the winning design for a commemorative sculpture to stand in Anzac
Parade, Canberra. The winning design for this RAAF jubilee Memorial was submitted
by Mrs. Inge King, of Warrandyte, Victoria.

The Prime Minister, Mr William McMahon, with the Minister
for Health, Senator 1. 1. Greenwood, and the Director -General of Healt h,
Sir William Refshauge, today met Dr R. H. Macdonald, the President
of the AMA and Dr E. G. Thomson, the Federal Secretary -General of
the AMA. Dr Macdonald explained the background to the problem of thie

between representatives of the Government and the A. C. T. U.

This is a unique Conference. It is unique in the sense
that it seeks to identify the problems associated with Australia's
surface transport and to attempt to find solutions.
According to the information conveyed to me by one of
Australia's greatest industrialists and captains of transport, there are
thte reasons for this uniqueness.

BACKGROUND TO OMEGA INSTALLATION.
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr William McMahon
In reply to a question by Mr Barnard in the House of Representatives
on 18 March 1 said that negotiations had taken place between the United States
and Australian Governments on a p roposal to set up an OMEGA installation in
Australia to guide international shipping and other kinds of transport.
I said that we had agreed to the proposal but no precise location had

INTERNATIONAL YEAR FOR ACTION TO COMBRAT RACISM
The Prime M/ inister, Mr. William McMahon, said today that the year
1971 would be observed in Australia as International Year for Action to Combat
Racism and Racial Discrimination.
Mr. McMahon said:
" The General Assembly of the United Nations designated the year 1971
as International Year for Action to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination
in the same way. as it had designated 1968 as Human Rights Year and 1965 as
International Co-operation Year.
