A. C. T. U. IN PRE-BUDG~ ET MEETING
The Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Holt, and a
group of senior Ministers will meet representatives of the
Australian Council of Trade Unions in Canberra tomorrow to
obtain at first hand the Council's views on the economic
situation. The Council will be represented by its Senior
Vice-President, the Hon, J. D. Kenny, and Secretary,
Mr. H. J. Souter. The President of the A. C . T Mr. Albert
Mcenk, is at present overseas.

I shall be leaving Australia for a short visit to the United States
and Britain after opening the South-East Asia Treaty Organization ( SEATO)
Conference in Canberra on Monday, June 27.
During my visit I shall have talks with President Johnson, the
Vice-President, Mr. Humphrey, the Secretary of State for Defense,
Mr. McNamara, and other senior members of the United States

MINISTFR TO VISIT SOUTH-EAST ASIA
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Holt.
The Minister'for the Army, Mr. Malcolm Fraser, leaves for a
comprehensive three-week visit to South-East Asia on Sunday, June 19.
Accompanied by the Secretary, Department of the Army, Mr.
Bruce White, the Minister will be making his first visit to troops
serving in various overseas locations.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Holt, said today that the prime
purpose of Mr. Fraser's mission was to visit the 1st Australian Task

LIBERAL NOMINATIONS PLAN IN QUEENSLAND

The Queensland State Division is well known to be
strongly of the view that it should campaign actively through all
areas of Queensland in order to build support for the Party in a
growing State, and to make the policies of the Party more widely
known. It has been the practice for each State Division
of the Liberal Party to decide its own policy on the selection of

The Prime Minister has cabled the following message to
the Commander of UnitGd States Forces in Viot Nam, General

you at the conclusion of tho Battalion's tour of duty

The Australian Government warmly welcomes the hopeful
signs of a favourable outcome of the talks between the
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Razak, and the Indonesian
Foreign Minister, Mr. Adamr Malik,

QUEENSILAND ELECTION RESULT
Comment by the Prime Minister, Mr, Harold Holt
I warmly congratulate Mr. Nicklin, Mr. Chalk and
their colleagues of the coalition team on their fully-deserved
vote of ccnfidence. it was a personal triumph for IVMr. Nicklin to hold
his large majority intact after nine years of leadership.
The Coalition u'overnment has launched Queensland
on a programme of vigorous development. We look forward to
a continuing Commonwealth/ State collaboration.

AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION TO THE SIXTH V. ORLD FORESTRY

The Prime Minister, Mr. iarold Holt, announced
today that the Minister for National Development, Mr. David
Fairb& irn, who is Chairman of the Australian Forestry Council,
would lead the Australian Delegation to the Sixth W'orld Forestry
Congress which will open in Madrid on 6th JTune, 1966. Mr.
Fairbairn is to leave today, 29th May.

Not surpriSingly, he seems rattled to find that, at this stage

latest public opinion polis, has fallen to what must ' be about the
lowest point in his Party's history.

DEATH OF PRIVATE NOACK
Statement by the Prime Minister. M~ r. Harold Holt
We have learned today with sadness that another
young Australian has lost his life in the military service of
his country. I offer my personal sympathy, and -uhat of my
colleagues in the Government, to the parents and relatives
of Private Noack. He was a National Servineran, the first
to be killed in action.

a Regular Army unit as a consequence of decisions taken by the
