Society's 10th anniversary. You are a significant
contributor to the network of organisations, churches
and brotherhoods an * d regional associations that make
such a major contribution to the' vitality of Australia's
Greek community.
The work of the network serves both _. Australians of Greok
extraction and the whole . of Australia's multicultural.

FIRST AUSTRALIAN-GREEK PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS
I am delighted today to announce jointly with the Minister for
Employment and Industrial Relations the recipients of the
Conmmonwealth Government's first Auiitri2. ian-Greek Presidential
Awards. The aim of the Awards is to foster the maintenance and development
of Greek culture within Australia's multicultural society by
assisting young Australians to wor: k or study in Greece in. tL-heir)
own area of expertise. The Awards were set up in March 1982

TAX AVOIDANCE REPORTS REBUTTAL
In some recent newspaper and other media coverage, it has been
said or implied or suggested that I was aware in 1977 of the
existence of Bottom of the Harbour taxation schemes.
Statements to that effect are wholly and demonstrably false
and those responsible were guilty at the least of the grossest
of negligence.
To set the record straight the position is as follows

STATEMENT ON THE ROYAL COMMISSION
INTO THE AUSTRALIAN MEAT INDUSTRY, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
I present the Report of the Royal Commission into the Australian
meat industry. I seek leave to make a statement. In mid-August
1981, discoveries were made in the United States of horse meat
having been substituted for beef by an Australian meat export
establishment. Immediate steps were taken both in the USA and

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST DRINK DRIVING
I have written today to the State Premiers and the. Chief
Minister of the Northern Territory sceking their co-operation
in'a natL-ional media campaign against drink drivinag.
There is growing concern in the community about the
appallingly high number of deaths and injuries occurring
daily on our roads. This concern : Ls shared by -the
Commonwealth. Every effort should be made to reduce trauma and distress
