The Prime Ministers of Australia and Fiji are pleased to announce that Fiji’s Blackrock Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Camp will be redeveloped into a regional hub for police and peacekeeping training and pre-deployment preparation.
Australian support will ensure the Blackrock facility will deliver enhanced capability development and stronger interoperability between the Australian Defence Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
It will be built on our long-standing Defence Cooperation Program, which focuses on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, maritime security, peacekeeping and training.
Fiji has demonstrated its commitment to regional and global security through 40 years of peacekeeping operations in Africa and in the Middle East.
Australia remains committed to supporting the RFMF conduct these operations, including through the provision of Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles and tailored training programs.
