All Australians will share the joy of the families of the two miners found alive at Beaconsfield, and that of the local community.
We must all hope that the two men are safely brought to the surface, and reunited with their loved ones.
The Beaconsfield community has shown incredible resilience and courage in maintaining its hope and determination over the past six days.
Amidst the welcome news there is understandable sorrow for the death of the third miner, Larry Knight. Our thoughts are very much with his family.
