Inquiry into Intelligence Agencies
The Government has decided to adopt the recommendation of the Parliamentary Joint Committee Report dealing with intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction that there should be an independent assessment of the performance of the intelligence agencies (Recommendation 3, para 5.33). The Government agrees with the Committee that the independent assessment should be conducted by an experienced former intelligence expert.
I shall indicate the person appointed to carry out this task and the terms of reference of the inquiry shortly.
