  • Minister Assisting the Attorney-General for Queensland Floods Recovery
Further assistance for Queensland community groups

The Gillard Labor Government has today announced grants for eligible charitable businesses and not-for-profit organisations following the Queensland floods and Cyclone Yasi.

These grants will help not-for-profit groups in impacted areas get back on their feet to enable them to once again provide important local-based services like counselling, medical care, child care, family counselling, job-training and employment services.

The Category C grants are activated under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements and provide recovery grants of up to $25,000 for not-for-profit organisations in 36 local government areas affected by the recent disasters,

The Gillard Government will be the primary funder of these grants, expecting to contribute up to 75 per cent of total expenditure, with the remainder to come from the Queensland Government.

Organisations seeking further information about the grants should contact the Queensland Department of Communities on 1800 173 349.
