State Funeral for Charles Perkins
The Government will offer the family of the late Charles Perkins a state funeral in recognition of his central role in indigenous affairs over the last four decades.
Charles Perkins had an enormous impact on the indigenous community for which he fought so hard.
It is entirely appropriate, therefore, that he be honoured in this way.
The Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Senator the Honourable John Herron, will represent the Government at the funeral.
