VISIT BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL
ISLANDS I am pleased to announce that the President of the Republic of the Marshall
Islands, His Excellency Amata Kabua, and Mrs Kabua will make a State visit
to Australia, as guests of the Australian Government, from 5 to 12 December.
They will be accompanied by the Republic's Foreign Minister, the Honourable
Tom Kijiner.
President Kabua will also be accompanied by a trade and investment mission
which will brief Australian businesses on opportunities for investment in, and
trade with, the Marshall Islands at a series of seminars to be held in Sydney,
Melbourne and Brisbane. The President will deliver a keynote address at
each of the seminars.
In addition to the opportunity which the visit offers for a constructive dialogue
on South Pacific regional and international issues of mutual interest,
especially in the context of the South Pacific Forum, it will underline and
strengthen of the already warm and cooperative links between Australia and
the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
President Kabua last visited Australia in September 1988.
