STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, THE lION P J KEATING MP
EARTHQUAKE ON ISLAND OF FLORES, INDONESIA
I have sent today the following _ message to President Soeharto concerning the earthquake
on the island of Flores, Indonesia:
On behalf of the Government and people of Australia, I should like to convey our
. profound sorrow and concern at the news of the terrible earthquake on Flores and
the large loss of life. All those who have suffered in this tragedy have our deepest
sympathy. The Australian Government stands ready to assist in whatever way we can and I
can assure you of a speedy response to any rcquest.
