STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, THE HON P J KEATING, MP
The Prime Minister has sent the following message to KathrynWatt of the Australian
Olymnpic Team in Barcelona, Spain:
Congratulations, Kathy, on your magnificent ride to win the gold medal in
the women's individual road race.
In winning our first gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics, you have
achieved the further honour of gaining Australia's first ever medal for
women's cycling in Olympic competition.
All Australians are thrilled by your victory and you can be immensely proud
of your performance a fitting reward for your training and sacrifice.
Once again, congratulations from us all.
