STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, THE HON P J KEATING, MP
REPORT OF THE RESOURCE ASSESSMENT COMMISSION'S FOREST AND
TIMBER INQUIRY
The Resource Assessment Commission has presented the final
report of its Forest and Timber Inquiry. The report has
been tabled in Parliament today.
The Prime Minister said that he had referred the report to
the Minister for Resources, Mr Griffiths, and the Minister
for the Arts, Sport, the Environment and Territories, Mrs
Kelly, who will examine the recommendations of the report,
particularly in the context of the proposed National Forests
Policy Statement. They will prepare 8 joint Cabinet
submission which addresses the recommendations of the
