Death of Mrs Jean Sinclair, senior adviser to the Prime Minister

Mrs Jean Sinclair, senior adviser to the Prime Minister, died in the Freemasons Hospital, Melbourne this afternoon after a long battle with cancer. She was 51.
Mrs Sinclair had worked for Mr Hawke for the past 18 years, joining him as personal assistant in 1973 during his term as ACTU President. She became his electorate secretary when he became the Member for Wills in 1980.
Mr Hawke said tonight: " Jean's contribution, not just to me but, through the industrial and political labour movement, to the wider community, was immeasurable. "
She faced her illness with incredible courage. She was a truly remarkable woman who will be greatly missed."
Mrs Sinclair is survived by her husband, Professor Angus Sinclair.
