John Williamson, Sirocco, The Aboriginal/ Islander Dance
Theatre and Franklyn B Paverty will perform in the Forecourt
at the opening of the new Parliament House by the Queen on
9 may.
The award-winning singer and song-writer John Williamson
will present his traditional Australian songs, and Franklyn
B Paverty will provide bush music from our past.
The versatile energies and traditions of our Aboriginal
people will be represented by the Aboriginal/ Islander Dance
Theatre while Sirocco's music will provide a perspective of
the multicultural influences on our music.
As I have already announced, internationally acclaimed
singers Yvonne Kenny and Julie Anthony will perform with the
Australian Youth Orchestra at the Opening Ceremony in the
Great Hall. 006178
