Three new members have been appointed to the Australian
Science and Technology Council, to replace members whose
terms of office had expired.
' The new appointees are:
Professor Priscilla Kincaid-Smith, Professor of Medicine
at Melbourne University and Director of the Department
of Nephrology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr Donald Watts, Director of the Western Australian
Institute of Technology
Dr Peter Jones, Managing Director of Techway Pty Ltd,
of Sydney.
The retiring members of ASTEC were Mr David Adam, a director
of BHP, Mr Leon Peres of the Political Science Department of
Melbourne University and Professor Michael Porter, Director
of the Centre of Policy Studies at Monash University.
I thank the retiring members for their service, and look forward
to ASTEC continuing its important role as the Government's
principal science and technology advisory body.
