NATIONAL ESTATE QUEENSLAND
The Federal Government will provide a major boost in funds
to help protect Queensland's natural and cultural heritage.
We will increase funds to Queensland under the National
Esta -te Program by 28 per cent to $ 446,000 this financial
year. Specific projects have not yet been finalised. I will be
writing to the Queensland Premier shortly about the Program.
The National Estate Program was established in 1973. It has
funded conservation work in Queensland on
The Venus Gold Battery at Charters Towers
Small Churches on Sabai and Darnley Islands
in the Torres Strait
The former Australian Inland Mission Hospital at
Birdsville The Quinkan Aboriginal Cave Gallery in Cape York
The Normanton-Croydon -Railway
The Mt Isa Tent House
The Lark Quarry dinosaur tracks near Winton
It has also financed studies in Queensland on early coalmining,
pre-history sites and historic shipwrecks location and
identification.
