A writ for the election of a Member of the House of
Representatives for the Division of Wannon., ' Victoria,
in place of the Right Honourable J. 4. Fraser, C. H.,
will, subject to Executive Council approval, be issued
on 7 April 1983.
The dates in connection with the by-election will be
as follows: Issue of Writ Thursday, 7 Apr~ il 1983
Nominations close Tuesday, 19 April 1983
Polling day Saturday, 7 May 1983
Return of Writ On or before Wednesday, 6 July 1983
The Commonwealth Constitution provides that the Governor-
General in Council may issue a writ for election of a new
member when a vacancy happens in the House of Representatives
and there is no Speaker.
