Order of Australia Knighthood for PrinceCharles
I am delighted that Her Majesty The Queen, as Sovereign
of the Order of Australia, has appointed His Royal Highness
The Prince of Wales to be a Knight of the Order. On behalf
of the Government and people of Australia, I congratulate
His Royal Highness most sincerely.
. I am particularly pleased that the announcement has
been made at this time, on the day of the Privy Council
meeting in London at which Her Majesty The Queen will signify
her agreement to the marriage between His Royal Highness and
The Lady Diana Spencer. The Australian Government is
represented at that meeting by the Deputy Prime Minister,
Mr Anthony. His Excellency the Governor-General will present the
insignia of the Order to His Royal Highness while he is in
Australia on his forthcoming visit. This will give pleasure
to us all..-000---
